Jakarta – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Mahfud MD responded to the KKB’s request for Rp. 5 billion for the release of the Susi Air pilot.
It is known that the Susi Air Philips pilot Mark Methrtens was held captive by KKB Papua some time ago.
Until now the New Zealand national pilot is still being detained by KKB Papua.
The Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that his party was still in the process of negotiating with the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya to free Susi Air Philips pilot Mark Methrtens who was being held hostage.
According to him, his party is now in the process of fulfilling the KKB’s request led by Egianus Kogoya who asked for a ransom of Rp. 5 billion as a condition for releasing the Philips pilot.
“Yes, it’s all still in process,” said Mahfud MD when met at the JS Luwansa Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/7/2023).
Mahfud MD said that the government’s focus is the safety of Susi Air pilots. Not only that, he also asked for no foreign interference in the case.
“The important thing is that one pilot must be safe, the second is that the TNI-Polri act professionally, the third that there should be no foreign interference or other countries’ interference in this case. That is the principle. Now the process continues,” he explained.
Previously, the Papua Regional Police (Polda) revealed that the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya had asked for a ransom of Rp. 5 billion as a condition for releasing Philips’ pilot.
