Jayapura – Kapolda Papua Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri admitted that he had ordered a number of police to investigate the distribution of village (village) funds to assist armed criminal groups (KKB). He said that there were a number of regional police who had investigated the distribution of village funds to help the KKB.
“There are already several village heads who are currently undergoing an inspection process regarding village funds channeled to the KKB so that they are used to finance the group’s operations,” said Mathius, in Jayapura, Saturday (17/6/2023).
If there is involvement of the village head or anyone else in channeling village funds to the KKB, he said, his party will take firm action against them by processing their laws.
“Currently there are several village heads who have been detained and are currently being investigated by investigators regarding the use of village funds given to the KKB,” he explained.
Apart from Nduga Regency, explained the Regional Police Chief, there are also several areas that are of concern to the police. Thus, the police chiefs are asked to study and process the law if there are indications of channeling village funds to the KKB.
Village funds are given to help speed up the development process in the village so that their utilization is in accordance with the program that has been mutually agreed upon. Not the other way around, the funds were given to the KKB which often made the people around him nervous so that if there were indications, the village head would be prosecuted.
