Members of the Indonesian Parliament Distribute PIP Scholarships to Thousands of Students in the Yapen Islands

Jayapura – In order to advance Education in the Land of Papua, Member of the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) Gerindra Fraction, Yan Permenas Mandenas distributed scholarships for the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) to thousands of students in the Yapen Islands Regency.

According to Yan, the distribution of PIP is a form of his commitment as a people’s representative for the advancement of education in the land of Papua.

“I sit on Commission I of the DPR RI, which is not directly related to or partnered with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. But because of my love for Papuan children’s education, I used the Senayan network to get Papuan children’s scholarships,” explained Yan P. Mandenas, recently.

The Daily Chairperson of the Greater Indonesia Christian Movement is committed to continuing to bring the PIP program to Papuan children. With PIP, Yan hopes that more Papuan children will go to school.

“In the future I will continue to try to bring the PIP scholarship program to Papuan children. With the existence of this scholarship program, it is hoped that more and more Papuan children will pursue education and achieve their goals,” emphasized Yan.

advised Papuan children to continue learning and reach the highest goals. The future of the children of Papua is determined by ourselves.

“Papuan children are still learning, enthusiastic with a high work ethic. The key to success is the inner dynamic. Our future is not determined by others, but by ourselves. Who really works hard, he will be successful, said Yan.

Furthermore, Yan is pushing for more Papua Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds to be allocated for education. Continue, according to Yan, the allocation for education is very important because one of the serious problems in the land of Papua is human resources (HR).

“I continue to push for the technical implementation of the Special Autonomy budget to subsidize education. I will talk with the finance ministry to give a special portion to these ‘3T’ (frontier, lagging, and outermost) regions so that education is handled in a better way,” said Yan.

As is known, the PIP scholarships that were distributed were received by 491 elementary school students, 369 high school students and 197 vocational students. The total number of PIP beneficiaries is 1054 students with a budget absorbed of IDR 786,950,000.
