Jayapura – Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said the police had arrested an suspected leader of the armed criminal group (KKB) with the initials KTH alias PH. The arrest was made on Friday (19/5/2023) at 13.30 WIT.
This was conveyed by Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan in a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday (21/5/2023).
The arrest of KTH alias PH occurred after the police searched for information from the US, a suspect in the shooting of a Brimob member on November 30, 2022, who had previously been arrested by the police.
The investigation team assisted by Yahukimo Police investigators showed photos of KTH alias PH to AS. AS confirmed that the person in the photo was a KKB leader with the initials KTH alias PH. In addition, KTH’s identity has also been confirmed based on tracing population data
“KTH alias PH is suspected of being involved in a number of crimes committed by KKB in the jurisdiction of the Yahukimo Police, Papua Mountains,” he said.
These crimes included the killing of TNI members on November 4, 2022 and the shooting of members of the Yahukimo Police, which resulted in the death of Brigadier Usdar on November 29, 2022.
In addition, the KKB was involved in the shooting of members of the Preventive Brimob Task Force on 30 November 2022 and the shooting of the Yahukimo Police on 30 December 2022.
Regarding the shooting of a Brimob member on November 30, 2022, Ramadhan said KTH had been named a suspect. The determination of KTH as a suspect was carried out after the police pocketed two pieces of evidence of his involvement in the shooting.
KTH alias PH was arrested by the TNI and has been handed over to investigators who are members of the Cartenz Damai Operations Task Force and has then been secured at the Papua Regional Police for examination.
