Jayapura – Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri appreciated the Religious Figures who wanted to help the TNI-Polri free the Pilot hostage from the KKB.
“I really appreciate the wishes of religious leaders who said they wanted to help free the hostages from the hands of the KKB,” said Inspector General of Police Mathius, who was confirmed in Jayapura, Thursday (11/05).
His party is still waiting for further information from religious leaders regarding the team to be formed and the number of team members.
When it is clear, it will be informed to TNI-Polri members who are in the field so that their presence in the field is known later and there are no misinterpretations.
The TNI-Polri have also involved figures from Nduga Regency who were formed by the Regent’s officials to help negotiate with the KKB to release pilot Philip, but until now there has been no clear spot.
The search is continuing to free the hostages who have been held captive since February 7, including from the team forming the Nduga Regional Government so that if later religious leaders also form a team it is hoped that this will speed up the release process.
“TNI-Polri personnel are also continuing to search for the whereabouts of the pilot so that he can be released immediately,” he said.
The regional police chief admitted that apart from negotiating with the team formed by the Nduga regional government, his party was also conducting searches and law enforcement considering the actions taken by the KKB were increasingly troubling and had even caused casualties, including civilians.
“Law enforcement is carried out by targeting KKB members who are included in the DPO so that the implementation is measurable,” continued Inspector General Pol Mathius.
Before arresting the New Zealand pilot, the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya also burned the plane belonging to Susi Air piloted by the victim at the Paro airport, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
