Wakapolresta “Shooting in Tanah Hitam Under Investigation”

Jayapura City – The police are investigating the shooting incident that was experienced by a man named Prianus Mulogol (23) in front of the Mandiri Tanah Hitam KCP, Jalan Raya Abepantai, Abepura District, Tuesday (9/5) morning.

Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Pol. Dr. Victor D. Mackbon, S.H., S.IK., M.H., M.Si through the Deputy Chief of Police AKBP Deni Herdiana, S.E., S.H., M.M., M.H when confirmed in Abepura said this, Tuesday (9/5) afternoon.

The Wakapolresta said the incident occurred around 04.15 WIT, at which time the victim was stopping to urinate and three unknown men came and asked for the keys to the victim’s motorbike.

“The victim immediately said ‘this is my motorbike’. Because he was afraid, the victim ran to one of the dormitories at BTN Atas, but while running the victim was immediately shot in the leg three times,” explained AKBP Deni.

AKBP Deni further said, from the three shots, one bullet hit his left thigh, he continued to run to his colleagues at the BTN above to ask for help. “The victim was then escorted to the hospital by his colleagues,” he added.

The Police immediately conducted a TKP investigation led by the Head of the Jayapura City Police Headquarters, Kompol Pillomina Ida Waymramra, S.E., S.I.K as Pawas accompanied by the Head of the Abepura Police and Jayapura City Police Criminal Investigation Unit personnel.

The former Yahukimo Police Chief also explained that from the results of the TKP investigation, a 9 mm caliber shell was found near a sand dune and a motorbike repair shop, or to be precise, at the scene in front of Bank Mandiri Tanah Hitam.

“Apart from the casings, the identification team also found projectiles stuck in the wooden shanties selling which are suspected to have come from the perpetrator’s weapons,” said the police chief.

He also said that his party was still carrying out an in-depth investigation of the incident with the support of the Jayapura City Police Criminal Unit to reveal who the perpetrators were and what their motives were.

“Residents of Jayapura City are advised not to worry about this incident, the Police Chief is currently handling it, for those who know or have information regarding this incident can inform the Police,” concluded Deputy Chief of Police AKBP Deni.(*)
