Jayapura – The 2023 Damai Carstensz Operations Task Force which was formed to maintain security against disturbances by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) and Political Criminal Groups (KKP) in the Papua Police Legal Area has been running for 4 months and has succeeded in uncovering several cases in Papua. This task force is led by Kombes Pol. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos, S.I.K., M.H as Head of Cartenz Damai Operations 2023.
For 4 months, the Carstensz Damai Task Force 2023 has processed 31 members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Papua Region.
Kombes Pol. Faizal Ramadhani, when questioned, said that the 31 KKB members who had been named as suspects were active KKB members and had been directly involved in a series of KKB actions so far.
He continued, “In January 2023, to be precise, on January 11, we secured SK who was a KKB sympathizer. Then on January 16, we arrested GW who was strongly suspected of being involved in the stabbing of 2 motorcycle taxi drivers in Puncak Jaya.
Then on January 17, we again secured the ES and in the ES’s bag, it contained 1 Morning Star flag. Then on January 18, our team again managed to arrest AH and MK who served as suppliers of weapons and ammunition to the Yahukimo KKB group at the TKP in Boven Digoel Regency. Then on the same date, January 18, our team arrested EG who acted as a KKB spy for the Nduga region and arrested a person with the initials YG who was carrying ammunition in Paniai Regency.
It didn’t end there, on January 22 our team managed to secure 13 KNPB Sentani sympathizers in Jayapura, then on January 23 there was discovery of ammunition at TPS SP-2 Timika, and on January 26 the Deputy Regent of Gunung Bintang handed over one of the KKB sympathizers with the initials AK to apparatus. In addition, on January 30, our team carried out a raid on the Aksop dormitory in the gunung bintang district and succeeded in securing 21 people and a number of evidences (BB). After that, on January 30, he surrendered a DPO with the initials BL who was involved in the case of planning to bring weapons to Kawe (Pendulangan) on January 18 to be precise.
Continuing to February, on March 3, another 15 people were arrested against the KKB network in Kab. Jayawijaya, and on February 7 our team secured the KKB network in Wamena, then on February 8 a person with the initials MK was arrested who was involved in the shooting of PT. Delarosa and on February 16 the perpetrators of narcotics and weapons and ammunition were arrested. On February 21, the Cartenz-2023 Damai Ops Task Force again succeeded in arresting JM who was a DPO from the North Maluku Regional Police Directorate of Criminal Investigation and on February 22 managed to secure a young man with the initials YT who stored 10 bullets in Camp. Kimak Kab. Puncak and on February 23, 13 people were arrested again in the case of the issue of child abduction which led to the shooting in Wamena.
In March 2023, to be exact, on March 5, the team managed to secure the people who stored homemade firearms in Kab. Yahukimo and on March 11 arrested the perpetrator with the initials EG who was one of the perpetrators of the shooting down of the Trigana Air plane at Yahukimo Regency Airport. Then on March 16, the team again arrested 2 (two) people who were suspected of participating in the burning of Dekai 02 Middle School.
In April, on the 3rd, KKB was arrested with the initials WM, KM, UT in Nduga Regency and secured the evidence, then on April 4 the Return Team succeeded in securing 2 people who made homemade firearms in Dogiyai Regency. On April 5, a KKB member with the initials YM alias BM was arrested in Gome District, Puncak Regency. Then continued on April 6, the authorities managed to arrest a KKB member in the Nduga region with the initials YL and on April 8 LM and AK were arrested at Jayapura Port, the two people were involved in ordering 300 pairs of army camouflage shirts and on April 9 they were again carried out the arrest of 3 KKB sympathizers with the initials TT, PG and WT whose role was to deliver food to KKB.
From these cases, the number of KKB members who were successfully arrested was 31 KKB members who were directly involved in various acts of violence in Papua and it is possible that this number will increase because other cases related to the Papuan KKB actions are still under investigation.
