Jayapura – Head of the Papua Regional Police (Kapolda) Inspector General Pol. Mathius Fakhiri said that his party received reports of abuse against the Kiwirok District Abedeus Tepmul which was allegedly carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), Sunday (30/042023).
The Papuan Police Chief confirmed that the incident took place in the Kiwirok District, Gunung Bintang Regency, Papua Mountains, which was allegedly carried out by members of the Ngalum Kupel KKB.
“The head of the Kiwirok District and his relatives are temporarily being held at residents’ homes and members of the TNI and Polri are still on alert,” said Mathius.
Based on the report received, when the incident occurred the victim was with several of his family looking for wood, suddenly a member of the KKB came and confronted the victim with a gun.
The victim was also reported to have been abused with a gun butt until he suffered bruises and threatened people not to go to Delpem, Kiwi, Pelbib and Lolim villages.
Previously, members of the TNI and Polri had heard shots from the direction of Kampung Mongoldoki, which was 300 meters from the Damai Cartenz Kiwirok Post.
Soldiers saw 15 people carrying arrows and a rifle. Members of the TNI and Polri continued to monitor until there were reports of abuse.
