TIMIKA – Korem 172/PWY Commander Brigadier General J. O Sembiring who also serves as the Operational Commander for the Susi Air Pilot Release Firmly denied the statement by TPNPB spokesperson Sebby Sembom who mentioned a military operation in Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
This was conveyed by his party in a press conference held at the Central Papua Mimika Service Police Headquarters, Monday (10/4/2023) afternoon.
At the beginning of the press conference Brigadier General Sembiring firmly stated that there was no military operation carried out by the TNI-Polri in Nduga Regency as alleged by TPNPB spokesman Sebby Sambom.
“I invite the public not to be trapped by the narrative created by terrorist Sebby Sambom that we are carrying out military operations in Papua, this is propaganda being conveyed. The operation that we are carrying out is the ‘Smart Approach’, which is a combination of a combination of a hard approach (a method that is carried out using acts of ambush, arrest, attacks carried out by state officials) and a soft approach or a subtle or soft approach such as a cultural and religious approach,” he stressed.
In addition, he added that this operation was carried out in order to support law enforcement against terror perpetrators.
“We convey that this is an operation which in its implementation fully supports law enforcement against the KKB group. Surrender immediately otherwise we will chase and arrest! ,” he stressed.
Sembiring asked the public not to be afraid to report if a terror group was suspected in their area.
“We appreciate the people of Nduga Komplek, Agats, Kuyawage who are willing to help report the existence of this terror group. We urge other people to follow this example and don’t be afraid, in the villages there are SSB radios (Single Side Band or high-frequency radio), use them. communication is to contact village officials. They are obstacles to development in Papua, so let’s fight this terror group together,” he said.
At the end of his delivery, to the KKB group, Brigadier General Sembiring appealed to immediately surrender himself to be accountable for their actions to the community.
