Jayapura – The Dogiyai District Police are currently investigating the fire case that occurred at the Dogiyai Regent’s Office, Saturday (8/4) afternoon.
The Head of Public Relations for the Papua Regional Police, Senior Commissioner of Police, Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, when confirmed, confirmed that there was a fire incident.
The Head of Public Relations explained, at around 12.30 WIT, according to witness 1 R, at that time he was about to deliver food supplies and transport employees working at the Regent’s Office to Nabire Regency.
“When the witness was about to put up the tarpaulin on the back of the car, sparks and smoke could be seen coming from the Regent’s office, which is to the right of the bathroom area. At the same time, Witness 2 H who was in the trading stall saw thick smoke coming from the position to the right of the Regent’s Office,” explained the Head of Public Relations.
Not long after, employees who were working in the area of the regent’s office immediately tried to save some office equipment.
“At 13.02 WIT 1 SST Brimob Yon C Polda Papua, 1 SST Brimob Damai Cartenz Task Force, 1 SST Police Dogiyai and a team of Task Force 113 and Koramil 1705-04/Moanemani arrived at the location to carry out security in the fire area,” he said.
At 13.30 WIT, a unit of water tanker truck arrived at the location to extinguish the remaining fire.
Kombes Benny added, there were no casualties as a result of the incident, and the amount of loss was still being confirmed with the relevant service agencies. “It is not yet known what started the fire. At present the National Police are conducting security and processing the TKP, after which an investigation will be carried out to find out the cause of the fire,” said Kombes Benny.
It is known that the building that caught fire was the Guest House which was used as the temporary office of the Dogiyai Regent belonging to the Dogiyai Regency Government as long as the Regent’s Office was still under construction.
