Dogiyai – The Dogiyai Police Criminal Unit, Central Papua, arrested two local firearms assemblers in the Kigamani area, Kamuu District, on Tuesday (4/4/2023).
Police Chief Dogiyai Kompol Sarraju, said the two perpetrators had the initials DG and AY.
From the investigation, it was found that both of them had learned to assemble homemade firearms through the online media facility YouTube.
“DG and AY learned how to make homemade guns and ammunition from online media or via YouTube,” said Kompol Sarraju, Wednesday (5/4/2023).
The police have secured a number of items of evidence belonging to the perpetrators, including 1 air rifle, 1 homemade firearm, 1 air rifle butt, 1 umbrella chopstick, 10 iron plates.
Then 22 iron pipes, 17 welding wire electrodes, 46 arrowheads, 1 solder, 1 laser, 8 iron umbrellas, 4 bullets, and other evidence.
“All the evidence has been secured by the Dogiyai Police Criminal Investigation Unit,” said Kompol Sarraju.
The two perpetrators are now being charged under Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951, concerning possession and manufacture of sharp firearms without a permit.
“The two perpetrators are still being detained at the Dogiyai Police Headquarters to undergo a further investigation process,” concluded Kompol Sarraju.
