Mimika – The TNI-Polri are still trying to free Susi Air pilot Philip Mehrtens who was held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya. The pilot from New Zealand was taken hostage after his plane was burned by KKB at Paro Airport (perintis), 7 February 2023.
After nearly two months of being held hostage, New Zealand foreign media reported that the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police carried out an attack on the KKB that was holding Phillip as hostage. The attack caused casualties on both sides.
However, this was denied by the Cartenz Damai 2023 Operations Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Donny Charles Go. The Cartenz Peace Task Force is a joint TNI-Polri team tasked with fighting the KKB.
“The information about the ambush on the KKB group is not true,” said Donny, Sunday (2/4), when confirmed regarding the attack carried out by the TNI-Polri.
Donny said that his party is still conducting searches for the location of Philip being held hostage.
“We, the TNI-Polri, who are members of the Peaceful Cartenz Task Force, are still trying to find the Susi Air pilot,” he said.
Previously, there was news reporting about the ambush by TNI-Polri personnel to the KKB group, but this incident was at a different place and time and had nothing to do with the search for Pilot Susi Air in Kab. Guess.
In fact, the KKB group killed a motorcycle taxi driver located in Kimak District, Kab. The peak was on (22/03), while the shooting of 2 TNI-Polri personnel occurred in Ilu District, Kab. Puncak Jaya on (25/03).
