Mimika – The body of Iwan (25), a motorcycle taxi driver who was allegedly shot dead by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, was evacuated to Mimika Regency on Thursday (23/3/2023) morning.
The victim’s body was evacuated using a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan AMA/PK-RKB aircraft with pilot Captain Darma Sertiadi who was escorted by joint security forces and the victim’s family,” said Benny.
After landing at Mozes Kilangin Mimika Airport, the body was then taken to the Mimika Hospital for repatriation.
Benny said the plan was for the body to be flown to South Sulawesi to be buried in his hometown.
“Today’s plan is to send the victim’s body to his hometown for burial, namely in Laikang Village, Ma’rang District, Pangkajene and Islands District, South Sulawesi using a Batik Air plane,” he said.
Previously, a motorcycle taxi driver named Irwan was allegedly shot dead by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) at the T-junction of Jalan Kimak, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, on Wednesday (22/3/2023) around 09.20 WIT.
It is strongly suspected that the shooting was carried out by KKB who pretended to be the victim’s passenger and shot when he arrived at his destination.
“The witness saw the victim accompanying the perpetrator to the T-junction on Jalan Kimak (asphalt road boundary), then the victim waited for the perpetrator to pay the fare,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, in a written statement, Wednesday.
After that, the joint TNI-Polri team chased the KKB until finally there was gunfire. From this incident, three members of the KKB were paralyzed, but only one body could be secured.
“However, the body that we managed to secure was only one person, his name was Enius Tabuni (22), while two other Papuan KKB bodies were brought by his colleagues,” Benny concluded.
