This tragic incident occurred at Camp Kampung Bor, Sumo District, and immediately triggered a quick response from the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz together with the Yahukimo Police.

The two victims who died were:

  2. Alias (Nur Asyah’s brother)

The four of them are one family who have lived and worked in Kampung Bor for about five years, relying on income from finding agave wood and opening grocery stalls for local residents.

The initial information was obtained from the testimony of a witness with the initials E. Around 18.05 WIT, he received a phone call from Alias who reported that a group of OTK came to the camp location and immediately attacked using sharp weapons. The situation turned tense, forcing the victim and his family to try to escape to the forest.

Alias and two other family members managed to save themselves, but the other two victims were unable to fight the speed and violence of the perpetrators.

At 21.30 WIT, Alias contacted witness E again and reported that the bodies of the two victims had been successfully evacuated using a fiber boat to Agats City, Asma Regency, a long journey that took about seven hours in the dark night in the interior of Papua.

We are committed to uncovering this case and ensuring a sense of security for the community.”

He also emphasized that this incident shows a real threat to residents who work in remote areas, so the state must be present with quick, measured, and professional steps.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the intensity of patrols and supervision of community movement routes will soon be increased.

“We have increased the patrol and monitoring of the community movement path. Coordination continues to be carried out with the Yahukimo Police to maintain the stability of the post-incident kamtibmas.”

The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz expressed its deepest condolences to the victim’s family. This tragedy is not only a crime, but also a blow to social stability and a sense of security for people who live in the countryside.

The four victims have been known as a hardworking family that lives peacefully and builds a small business to help the needs of local residents.

The Task Force emphasized that the state will not allow violent perpetrators to roam and threaten the safety of citizens.

“We ensure that law enforcement will continue until the perpetrators are arrested and processed according to the applicable law,” said Deputy Head Cartenz.

With the quick steps of the security apparatus, the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force hopes that the public will feel that the state is present and will not remain silent against all forms of violence. Increased security, intensive investigation, and the presence of officers in the field are expected to be a breath of fresh air for residents in the Sumo District and other inland areas.
