The Nabire Regency Government, Central Papua, donated land to the Central Papua Regional Police (Polda) to strengthen the role of security forces in maintaining public order and security (kamtibmas) in the region.
Nabire Regent Mesak Magai stated in Nabire on Wednesday that the land donation represents the regional government’s support for the security forces’ efforts to maintain regional stability, especially as Nabire is the capital of Central Papua Province.
“We have donated 50×100 square meters of land in Bumi Wonorejo Village to the Central Papua Regional Police so that the officers can optimally maintain security,” he said.
He explained that Nabire plays a strategic role as a central area in Central Papua for economic activity, education, and health services in several regencies in Central Papua, such as Dogiyai, Deiyai, Paniai, and Intan Jaya.
According to him, this situation requires maintaining security stability so that community activities can proceed smoothly.
“Nabire is a center for food distribution, education, and healthcare. So security must be strictly maintained,” he said.
In addition to the land grant, the Nabire Regency Government has also activated a joint synergy post with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in the Bumi Wonorejo area to strengthen security coordination.
The local government, along with security forces, has also mapped areas based on their vulnerability levels into green, yellow, and red zones.
He added that areas categorized as vulnerable, such as Topo, are prioritized for security, including the addition of personnel and the construction of security posts.
Mesak also appreciated the role of the TNI and Polri in maintaining a conducive security situation in Nabire, the center of government in Central Papua.
“We thank the authorities for continuing to maintain public order and security, ensuring Nabire remains safe and community activities run smoothly,” he said.
