Nabire — Ahead of the commemoration of International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2025, the Chairman of the Sentani Bersatu Sejahtera Association (ASBS) of Jayapura Regency, Papua, Jhon Maurits Suebu, delivered a firm appeal to the public not to be provoked by groups or individuals whose actions may disrupt public security and order.
Jhon Maurits expressed his concern over the lack of government action against groups whose activities disturb public order in Papua.
If no decisive steps are taken, Suebu said he and his organization are prepared to mobilize community groups and various societal elements to voice their aspirations to the government through official channels.
He urged all residents of Jayapura Regency—especially youth leaders, students, and indigenous communities—to remain wise and not be swayed by issues that could provoke the Papuan people.
“Every year, December 10 is observed as International Human Rights Day. I urge all of us not to be influenced by any groups or organizations attempting to exploit this moment,” he said in a press release received by Kalawaibumiofi in Nabire, Sunday (7/12/2025).
He also emphasized the important role of society in maintaining security. “Let us take part in maintaining public order, building solidarity with the TNI and Polri, and preparing to celebrate Christmas and New Year with joy,” he said.
“Do not be easily provoked. Let us work together to maintain security in Papua, especially in Jayapura Regency. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May the Lord Jesus bless us all,” he added.
