Sentani – Ahead of December 1, which is often a special concern in the kamtibmas calendar in the Papua region, the Jayapura Police officially deployed 250 personnel to carry out large-scale security and patrols. This step was taken to ensure that the situation remained safe, orderly, and conducive in the midst of increasing community activity towards the end of the year, Sunday (11/30/2025).
Jayapura Police Chief AKBP Umar Nasatekay, S.I.K., through Head of Ops AKP Suheriyono, S.Sos., emphasized that this security is a preventive measure that has been carefully prepared. Jayapura Police wants to ensure that people can do activities as usual without anxiety about potential security disturbances.
“The Jayapura Police has prepared 250 personnel who will carry out patrols at vulnerable points to anticipate potential disturbances. We want to make sure that the community can carry out activities without worry,”* said Kabag Ops.
According to AKP Suheriyono, the personnel who were deployed consisted of Sabhara, Intelkam, Reskrim, Lantas, Binmas, and the ranks of the Police in the jurisdiction of the Jayapura Police. All personnel have received technical instructions regarding security patterns, patrol patterns, and quick reporting mechanisms if indications of potential security disturbances are found.
In addition, the Jayapura Police also coordinates with local governments, community leaders, religious figures, and other security partners to strengthen early detection and prevent the spread of provocative information that can disrupt security stability.
Jayapura Police also ensures that community activities such as worship, economic activities, and public services can still run without obstacles. Security personnel are alerted until the situation is completely ensured to be safe and under control.
This security effort is a form of Jayapura Police’s commitment in maintaining order and peace in the Sentani region and its surroundings, as well as ensuring that the momentum of December 1 can be passed without significant interference.
