Damai Cartenz Task Force and Yahukimo Police Hand Over Suspect in Health Worker and Teacher Attack Case to Jayawijaya Prosecutor’s Office

Jayapura — The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, in collaboration with the Yahukimo District Police, has officially handed over a suspect and related evidence (Phase II) in the case of premeditated murder, assault, and arson involving Aris Pahabol to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office, on Thursday (November 6, 2025).

The Head of the Damai Cartenz Operation, Police Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., explained that the transfer of the suspect and evidence was carried out after the Prosecutor’s Office declared the investigation dossier complete (P21), as stated in a letter from the Head of the Papua High Prosecutor’s Office, Number B-86/R.1.16/Eoh.1/10/2025, dated October 28, 2025.

“With the completion of Phase II, the legal process concerning suspect Aris Pahabol officially falls under the authority of the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.

The suspect, Aris Pahabol, is charged with Premeditated Murder, Assault, and Arson, as stipulated in Article 340 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1), subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) point 1, Articles 351 Paragraphs (1), (2), and (3) in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) point 1, and Article 187 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) point 1 of the KUHP.

The case originated from a police report numbered LP/B/08/III/2025/SPKT/POLRES YAHUKIMO/POLDA PAPUA, dated March 22, 2025, regarding an attack on health workers and teachers in Anggruk District, Yahukimo Regency, which occurred on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The Public Prosecutor handling the case is Margrith Elain Duwiri, S.H. During the Phase II handover, investigators also presented several pieces of evidence, including:

One machete and one knife without a handle,

Burnt wooden materials,

Fragments of black and white glass,

Three mobile phones of various brands (green ZTE Blade A35, blue Nubia A56, and red Oppo A31), and

One piece of the Morning Star flag.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Damai Cartenz Operation, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the handover process began in the morning. At 08:15 a.m. Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT), suspect Aris Pahabol was released from the Sentani Airport Police Detention Center and flown to Wamena aboard Trigana Air flight IL-271.

“Upon arrival at Wamena Airport around 09:34 a.m. WIT, the team immediately proceeded to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office to carry out the Phase II process,” explained Commissioner Adarma.

By 3:30 p.m. WIT, the suspect handover and evidence verification were completed. The suspect was then transferred to the Wamena Class IIB Correctional Facility to undergo detention.

The police also confirmed that a notification letter regarding the handover of the suspect and evidence had been officially delivered to the suspect’s family.
