Operation Peace Cartenz Task Force Investigates Stabbing Case of Migrant Resident in Dekai, Yahukimo

Yahukimo — The Operation Peace Cartenz Task Force acted swiftly in response to a stabbing incident involving a migrant resident identified as Nurdi (53) on Elite Street, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, on Saturday (November 1, 2025), at around 3:50 p.m. local time (WIT).

The initial handling was led by IPDA Muhammad Hasan, an officer from the Law Enforcement Task Unit (Head of Investigation) of the Yahukimo Sub-unit, along with six other personnel. Upon arrival at the scene, the team immediately conducted a crime scene investigation and coordinated with Dekai Regional General Hospital (RSUD Dekai) to confirm the victim’s condition. Medical examination revealed that the victim sustained a stab wound on the right side of his chin and a slash wound on the back of his neck. He remained conscious and received prompt medical treatment at RSUD Dekai.

Field investigations revealed that three unidentified men had visited the victim’s kiosk earlier that day and returned around 3:50 p.m. carrying an empty jerry can, pretending to buy fuel. Since the victim recognized one of them, he opened the kiosk door to serve them. Moments later, a witness with the initials N.A. (23), the victim’s daughter, heard a commotion from the kiosk and found her father lying on the floor covered in blood.

The team obtained two CCTV recordings from both the exterior and interior of the kiosk. Based on the footage, three perpetrators arrived together:
• The first perpetrator wore a white hoodie with a black stripe on the right sleeve and was approximately 160 cm tall.
• The second perpetrator wore a short-sleeved green shirt and brown shorts, about 165 cm tall.
• The third perpetrator wore a black hoodie and black shorts, also about 165 cm tall.

In the interior CCTV footage, the perpetrator in a black hoodie is seen attacking the victim with a machete, while the one in a white hoodie stabbed the victim’s chin with a sharp object. After committing the assault, the three fled toward Elite Street.

The Head of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that his team had gathered crucial evidence to identify the perpetrators.

“We have secured the CCTV footage and collected witness statements. The joint team from Operation Peace Cartenz and the Yahukimo Police are conducting further investigations to identify and apprehend the perpetrators,” explained Brig. Gen. Faizal Ramadhani.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that any act of violence against civilians would not be tolerated.

“We are committed to maintaining public safety in Yahukimo. Law enforcement will be carried out professionally and firmly. Any form of violence committed by any party will be dealt with according to legal procedures,” asserted Chief Comm. Adarma Sinaga.

The Operation Peace Cartenz Task Force continues to coordinate with the Yahukimo Police Criminal Investigation Unit to pursue the suspects. Preliminary analysis indicates that such incidents are often linked to sympathizers or members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of Kodap XVI Yahukimo, aiming to provoke unrest in the area.

As of now, the security situation in Yahukimo Regency remains safe and under control under the supervision of joint personnel from Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 and the Yahukimo Police.
