Biak Numfor, Papua – The Biak Numfor Regency Government confirmed its commitment in improving public health services by preparing an operational fund of Rp1 billion to support 21 public health centers spread across the region in the 2025 budget year.
Deputy Regent of Biak Numfor, Jimmy Carter Rumbarar Kapissa, when reading the speech of the Regent of Biak Numfor, Markus O. Mansnembra, said that the funding support is part of the local government’s efforts to maintain the smooth operation of health facilities in all districts.
“The operational fund of Rp1 billion is still very limited for 21 public health centers. However, this budget is a form of the initial commitment of the local government in ensuring that health services continue to run, especially in remote areas,” said Deputy Governor Jimmy in a meeting with the DPRK Biak Numfor.
He explained, the budget is focused on supporting important needs such as the provision of fuel oil (BBM), spare parts for ambulance vehicles, to the operation of marine ambulances which are the mainstay of medical services in the coastal area and the Biak Numfor archipelago.
In addition, the local government also through the Biak Numfor Regency Health Office continues to strive to make the health service system based on sea mobility effective, considering the geographical condition of Biak which is dominated by the archipelago.
“Some health centers do rely on sea motorboats to reach people on small islands. Therefore, we ensure that the service continues to run even with limited budget,” explained Vice Sup Jimmy.
He added that the local government will continue to try to increase the allocation of operational budgets in the coming year 2026, so that health services can be more optimal and even throughout the region.
“In the future, the Biak Numfor Regency Government will focus on increasing operational funds and strengthening medical facilities and human resources in every health center. We want the people of Biak Numfor to get fast, accurate, and comprehensive health services,” he concluded.
This local government’s step has received appreciation from various parties as a form of commitment in strengthening the basic health service system in the archipelago, even in the midst of budget limitations and difficult geographical challenges.
