Jayapura — A Papuan academic, Dr. Alfius Aninam, S.Th., M.Pd., has called on students and academic communities across Papua not to be easily provoked into participating in actions that could harm themselves or disrupt public order.
Dr. Alfius made the statement in Jayapura on Saturday (May 10, 2025), noting that although the security situation in Papua is generally stable, there are still certain areas vulnerable to disturbances.
“As an academic, I urge students to stay focused on their primary responsibility as learners. Study diligently and remain calm. You are the hope of your parents, religious institutions, and the wider community,” he said.
Dr. Alfius emphasized that students play a strategic role in shaping the nation’s future. Therefore, he warned the younger generation not to get involved in activities that could lead to social instability.
“We must exercise restraint and avoid getting involved in anything that could disrupt peace and jeopardize our own future,” he added.
