YAHUKIMO – The Peace Cartenz Task Force, together with the Indonesian National Police’s DVI Team, announced today the identification of another body recovered from the Muara Kum site. The body, which was evacuated and identified on Wednesday (April 16), has been confirmed to be that of Ferdina Buma, a male resident from Rumusu Village, Central Papua.
A press conference was held at Dekai Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Yahukimo Regency, attended by the hospital’s Director, Dr. Glenn M. Nutanyo, M.Kes., and medical personnel from Bhayangkara Hospital Jayapura.
The identification process was carried out by matching three secondary data points collected from both antemortem and postmortem sources, labeled under case number IHK 2025-015.
“The body was found at the Muara Kum site and was successfully evacuated and identified today as Ferdina Buma, born in Nabi Re on April 30, 1995. He was male and resided at Jalan Nabi Re Ilaga KM 36, Rumusu Village, Central Papua. The body has now been officially handed over to the family,” said AKBP Dr. Romy Sebastian, Commander of the DVI Team and Head of Bhayangkara Hospital Jayapura.
He expressed deep appreciation to all parties involved in the handling and final evacuation of the victim.
“The success in identifying all victims is a result of collective hard work. Identification is not just about medical data—it’s about humanity and giving closure to the families. We ensured every step was taken with the utmost care and respect for the victims,” said AKBP Romy Sebastian.
He further stated that with Ferdina Buma now identified, all 16 bodies received at RSUD Yahukimo have been successfully identified and returned to their respective families.
“This is our responsibility as part of the police and as a humanitarian team. We are here not just to confirm identities, but also to restore public trust in the presence of the state during times of grief,” he added.
Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, along with Deputy Head Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., also expressed their appreciation for the swift and professional work done by the DVI team in completing the identification process with full dedication.
“We truly appreciate the hard work of the DVI Team and everyone involved. This is a clear demonstration of the National Police’s commitment to providing certainty and the best service to the public. Security forces will also continue pursuing those responsible,” Brig. Gen. Faizal emphasized.
With the identification process now complete, the DVI Team of Operation Peace Cartenz hopes their efforts bring not only clarity regarding the victims’ identities but also peace of mind to all the bereaved families.
