Tabi, Jayapura- The Flobamora Family Association (IKF) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in Papua Province has expressed its stance regarding the attack on teachers and healthcare workers in Anggruk District, Yahukimo Regency, Mountainous Papua. The incident, which occurred on Friday (March 21, 2025), resulted in one fatality and several others injured.
The Head of Legal and Advocacy for IKF NTT Papua Province, Mateus Mamun Sare, revealed that the deceased victim, Rosalina Rerek Sogen, was a dedicated teacher who had long served in the area. She was known as a devout person and was well-liked by the local community, as evidenced by the large number of residents who attended her funeral service.
According to reports received by IKF Papua, the attackers are suspected to be an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) consisting of approximately 15 individuals. They assaulted the teachers and healthcare workers using sharp weapons such as axes, machetes, and wooden clubs.
IKF Papua strongly condemns this act of violence and urges law enforcement to immediately investigate and apprehend the perpetrators. The organization also emphasizes the importance of transparency and professionalism in handling this case to ensure justice for the victims.
Additionally, IKF NTT Papua highlighted indications that the attack was premeditated. This suspicion is reinforced by video footage recorded by the perpetrators during the incident. Testimonies from residents and survivors also indicate that the attackers were not from Anggruk District.
Based on these findings, IKF NTT Papua calls on security forces to act swiftly and ensure legal certainty. “There is no reason for authorities not to investigate this case honestly, fairly, and professionally,” Mateus asserted.
At present, Rosalina Rerek Sogen’s body has been transported to her hometown in Bantala Village, Lewolema District, East Flores, NTT, for burial. Meanwhile, other victims are still receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.
