Strengthening Harmony, Deputy Head of Public Relations Task Force ODC-25 Friendship with the Head of FKUB Timika Regency

Timika – Maintaining harmony in the midst of diversity is a joint commitment between the police and religious leaders in Timika. Public Relations Task Force ODC-25, Police Commissioner Yusuf Tauziri, S.I.K., together with his personnel, had a meeting with the Chairman of the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) of Timika Regency, Pastor Dr. Jeffrey C Hutagalung, MPhil, at his residence, Bethel Indonesia Jemaat Church Complex “ANUGERAH”, Thursday (20/2) morning.

In an atmosphere full of familiarity, the two discussed about challenges and solutions in maintaining the harmony of religious people in Timika. Police Commissioner Yusuf emphasized that the synergy between security apparatus and religious figures is the main key in creating a safe and peaceful environment.

“We want to make sure that the communication between the police and FKUB is always closely established. Religious figures have a big role in maintaining coolness in the midst of a diverse society,” said Police Commissioner Yusuf.

Pastor Jeffrey welcomed this meeting and appreciated the police’s steps in establishing good communication with religious leaders. According to him, close collaboration between all parties will further strengthen harmony and tolerance in Timika.

This discussion also discusses strategic steps in overcoming potential social friction and how a humanity-based approach can be a solution in facing various dynamics in society.
