Wamena – Jayawijaya community leader NALIGI KURISI called for calm among residents as Papua’s regional election process unfolds.
“The voting process on November 27 ran smoothly, and now it’s time to await the counting and official announcements,” NALIGI stated on Friday, December 6.
NALIGI emphasized that whoever emerges victorious as Governor, Deputy Governor, Regent, or Deputy Regent is the rightful leader chosen by the people.
“The elected leaders are entrusted by the community to drive change,” he added.
NALIGI appealed to residents and supporters to respect the Election Commission’s (KPU) upcoming decisions. “Avoid provocation; refrain from conflicts among community members, families, and relatives due to politics. The chosen leaders are God’s instruments for change,” he stressed.
NALIGI reiterated the importance of unity among Papua’s communities, particularly in Papua, Papua Highlands, Central Papua, and South Papua.
“Let’s join hands for a peaceful Papua,” he concluded.
