Jayapura, October 7, 2024– The Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operation Task Force together with the Puncak Jaya Police have successfully secured two members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) involved in a series of shootings against civilians and TNI officers in Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua.
The arrests took place on Saturday, October 5, 2024 on Jalan Trans Wamena Puncak Jaya, Kampung Lumbuk, Tingginambut District.
The Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operation Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, stated that the two perpetrators are now at the Puncak Jaya Police Headquarters to undergo further investigation.
“The two perpetrators of the shootings against TNI officers and civilians have been successfully secured by the joint team and are currently under investigation,” said Faizal.
Head of Public Relations Task Force for Cartenz-2024 Peace Operations, Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu Suseno, explained the chronology of the arrests. On October 5, 2024 at 12.01 WIT, when the joint team crossed the route between Tingginambut and Kalome, they managed to secure 2 KKB, namely Alison Wonda alias Kumara and Yotenus Wonda alias Maleki.
The confiscated evidence included three cellphones (two Realme brands and one Oppo), two bags, one noken, and three motorbikes. According to the results of the interrogation, the two perpetrators were suspected of being involved in a number of criminal acts, including the shooting of TNI officers in Puncak Jaya in March 2024.
Identity of the Perpetrators
- Alison Wonda alias Kumara, born in Paralo, July 1, 2001, a resident of Paralo Village, Tingginambut District.
- Yotenus Wonda alias Maleki, born in Mulia, July 8, 1998, a resident of Jimbanime Village, Yamoneri District, Puncak Jaya.
Senior Commissioner Bayu also revealed that Yotenus Wonda alias Maleki was involved in the shooting on March 17, 2024 that killed Sergeant Mar Ismunandar and injured Sergeant Salim Lestluhu next to the Mulia Health Center, Kulirik Village.
Yotenus Wonda alias Maleki admitted that he participated in planning the action with several other KKB members, including Ternus Enumbi and Alison Wonda.
In the shooting, the perpetrator used a long-barreled weapon, type SS1, and seized two short-barreled firearms belonging to the victim. Yotenus Wonda alias Maleki also admitted to being involved in the attempted murder of a civilian named Aan on May 31, 2024, as well as the shooting of Sergeant Anumerta Jefri E. May on August 15, 2024 at the Sport Center, Pagaleme Village.
The Role of the Perpetrator Yotenus Wonda alias Maleki is suspected of being involved in the attempted murder by monitoring and luring the victim out of the house to be executed.
The Role of the Perpetrator Alison Wonda alias Kumara was involved in the shooting of Sertu Mar Ismunandar and the murder of a TNI member on January 5, 2024.
Currently, the joint team continues to pursue other KKB members who are still at large.
