Jayapura- 13 Yahukimo residents who were passengers of a truck were successfully found safe, after the attack and ambush carried out by the Yahukimo Armed Criminal Group (KKB) on July 31, 2024.
As a result of the incident, a civilian named ABDUL MUZAKIR (32), the truck driver, died and the truck was also burned by the KKB perpetrators.
Head of Public Relations Task Force for Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations, Senior Commissioner of Police. Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H., when confirmed said that the 13 passengers who were in the back of the truck, when the attack and ambush by the KKB occurred, each ran to save themselves.
“When the ambush occurred, the 13 passengers who were Papuan-Yahukimo natives, they ran to save themselves and based on the report we received from the Yahukimo Police, the 13 passengers were already at their respective homes in a safe condition.” explained Senior Commissioner Pol. Dr. Bayu Suseno.
He continued, currently the Yahukimo Police have examined 1 victim witness who was also a truck passenger who survived the KKB action. The witness informed that the 13 victims have survived including the witness and are currently at their respective homes. The 13 residents when they hitched a ride on the truck intended to go to the garden.
Senior Commissioner Pol. Dr. Bayu Suseno added, the victim witness also said that the ones who carried out the ambush and attack were the Yahukimo KKB which was clearly seen by the witness that the 6 KKB were carrying a long-barreled firearm and other sharp weapons such as machetes, spears and also bows and arrows.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the TNI-Polri apparatus so that things that can cause unrest can be prevented,” appealed Kombes Bayu.
