Jayapura – The Puncak Jaya Police are currently pursuing the shooter of an unidentified individual (OTK) who targeted a motorcycle taxi driver on the Downhill Road towards Kota Lama, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM WIT.
The information was directly conveyed by Puncak Jaya Police Chief AKBP Kuswara, S.H., S.I.K., M.H. He explained that the victim was first discovered by a witness who happened to pass by the crime scene and found the victim in a weakened state and covered in blood.
“The witness quickly took the victim to Mulia Regional Hospital and reported the incident to the Puncak Jaya Police on duty,” he said.
Puncak Jaya Police officers immediately responded to the report and conducted a sweep of the crime scene area. However, the perpetrator was believed to have fled before officers arrived at the location.
“We immediately swept the crime scene, but the perpetrator had already fled. We are continuing the pursuit,” said AKBP Kuswara.
The victim, who is currently receiving medical treatment at Mulia Regional Hospital, is conscious despite sustaining injuries from the shooting.
“The victim is undergoing medical treatment and is conscious. We hope for the best for his recovery,” added the Police Chief.
AKBP Kuswara emphasized that the Puncak Jaya Police will thoroughly investigate this case until the perpetrator is apprehended and held accountable for their actions.
“We are committed to fully investigating this case and ensuring that the perpetrator receives appropriate punishment,” he asserted.
The Puncak Jaya Police urge the public to remain calm and report any information that could assist in the investigation and pursuit of the perpetrator.
The Puncak Jaya Police have also increased patrols in the area to ensure the safety and security of the community and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
